In September 2021, the project Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) will be launched in our school for all S4, S5, S6 and S7 pupils.
The main objective of the project Bring Your Own Device is to allow pupils to bring personal mobile devices, such as laptops or tablets, to the educational institution where they study and to use them to develop digital skills and competences, in order to become efficient, active, critical, creative and responsible learners and users of digital technologies.
The digital education of our pupils is one of the pillars of the vision we have for our school. As approved at the last Administration Board, the project BYOD will be the main driver of our digital plan. We want to create learning environments where digital technologies and media will be used for learning, communication and cooperation between pupils, teachers, staff members, parents and external partners.
The distance learning situation we are currently experiencing shows us that digital technologies are an inseparable part of today’s learning process. Pupils must become more confident in using these tools. They must be aware of their advantages and risks. They must use them in a secure and ethical way.
For these reasons, next school year, all S4, S5, S6 and S7 pupils will have the opportunity and the obligation to bring to school their devices and to use them in all the curricular subjects. In fact, for year 5, the use of the digital tool Geogebra will become compulsory for Mathematics and Physics for all the S5 pupils of the European Schools System.
In this BYOD context, it is important to provide parents with technical recommendations for the acquisition of these devices, based on the official recommendations (see document “BYOD : technical recommendations”). We want to accompany the families in their choice of equipment and provide them with useful and accurate technical advice. The document presents a list of minimum requirements for the acquisition of devices for next year’s S4, S5, S6 and S7 pupils.Technical recommendations
