Nuit à la bibliothèque 2024-25: literary encounters & Robinsonnades

On the night of Wednesday 18 to Thursday 19 December, the 3rd edition of the Nuit à la Bibliothèque (Night in the Library) took place in the French-speaking section.

Who hasn’t dreamt of spending the night in a library or museum? Who wouldn’t like to rebuild huts, like in our childhood, and live exceptional moments while believing to be alone in the world? What you’ve dreamed, we’ve done.

The core of the project, which is aimed at our S1 French-speaking class, is to instil a taste for reading, but also to help pupils feel at home at secondary school and to help them forge a group spirit. This year, we had the great honour of welcoming Philippe Lechermeier, author of the Maldoror trilogy. The evening began with the building of reading huts from Mr Grandjanin’s imagination (an allusion to the reading huts built in the forest during a previous project). Then we gave our first “reading concert”, a mixture of a reading (by the author himself, transformed for the occasion into an orchestra conductor) and a concert (the children improvised a musical accompaniment). Finally, in the darkened library, the children went on an intriguing treasure hunt among the shelves. We then curled up in Morpheus’ arms and woke up the next morning to the smell of hot chocolate. Mission accomplished: our Nuit 2024 not only gave us the opportunity to talk about adventures, but also to experience one !
