MoMi/NaMi

For some parents the core school times do not coordinate with their working hours. We have established an afternoon care facility which begins at the end of last lesson. Afternoon care is held from Monday to Friday up to 6 pm.

The afterschool care MoMi / Nami is organised by the MoMi-Nachmittagsbetreuung an der Europäischen Schule Karlsruhe e. V.

MoMi programme

The MoMi is available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 12:15 until 3:35.

Our offer includes: free play, healthy snack (fruit, vegetables etc.) and creative activities. First, the children eat together in the school canteen (either food brought from home or ordered from the canteen). Afterwards, depending on the supervisors’ programme, they enjoy playing outside or do other activities such as sport, games (card games, role play, free play and group games), crafts, singing and dancing. The pupils then do their homework under supervision. The supervisors provide the necessary calm and pleasant learning atmosphere; if they have any questions, they are happy to give tips – however, the afternoon supervision cannot and does not aim to provide tutoring, but rather to enable and support independent, orderly work.

The pupils will be cared for and looked after by qualified teaching staff or educators, in various languages, and in their own known and trusted school environment.

Nami programme

The NaMi is available Monday – Thursday from 3:35pm until 6pm, at Friday from 3:35pm until 5pm and from 5pm until 6pm and just like MoMi offers a wide variety of activities. Our programme includes: free play, healthy snack (fruit, vegetables etc.) and creative activities.

Absence

If a child is reported ill in the morning, it is also a valid excuse for afternoon care. Should a child participate in regular school lessons but not in the afternoon care, the supervisor needs to be informed. Please inform us if your child will not be attending MoMi/Nami by 11 a.m. on the same day or ealier by e-mail to: info@momi-nachmittagsbetreuung.eu

Timetable

For reliable planning, participation in the afternoon care programme can be booked either for half a year or for the whole school year.

The first term of afternoon care usually begins on the first day of school and ends on 31 January of the following year. Care on the pedagogical day (school holidays, usually in November) is possible for MoMi/Nami children from 8 am to 4 pm at no extra cost.

The second term of afternoon care begins on 1 February and ends on the last official school day (care for MoMi/Nami children is also offered free of charge from 8 am to 4 pm).

There is no afternoon care for the remaining days of school. Days on which lessons don’t take place, afternoon care is cancelled.

Brief Information for the Procedure of the NaMi

MoMi now offers an additional supervision and care programme ‘NaMi’ from 15.35 until 18.00 from Mondays to Fridays. A small snack is usually offered during the supervision but canteen meals have to be ordered and paid for separately by the parents and in advance. Similar activities to the MoMi are also offered during NaMi. For organisational purposes the costs for both of these supervisions have to be paid for in advance. Further information concerning MoMi at the European School Karlsruhe can be obtained from Mrs Kocsis kontakt.marianna@gmail.com,  Frau Allmann (marie.allmann@eursc.eu)

Organisation

All MoMi & NaMi children are always collected from their classrooms by the supervisors at the beginning of the school year (for approx. 4 weeks). In the further course of the school year, children (grades 1 to 5) come to the respective class room independently. The kindergarten children are always collected in the kindergarten area by the carers. The childcare rooms can be found on the information board in Building A.  The MoMi children go home by transport at 3.35 pm or are picked up. All NaMi children must be collected by 6.00 pm at the latest!
